Children’s skin is not just adult skin in a smaller package. It is more sensitive, behaves differently, and presents conditions that need a specialist’s eye. At Chattanooga Skin and Cancer Clinic, our team has helped Tennessee Valley families navigate everything from newborn rashes and stubborn eczema to teenage acne for more than 50 years. We take time, we explain things at a kid’s level when needed, and we make sure young patients leave the office feeling better than when they walked in.

What Makes Our Approach Different
We listen first
Kids and teens often know more about their skin than they get credit for. We ask, we listen, and we involve them in their care.
We explain everything
No medical jargon. We make sure parents and patients leave understanding the diagnosis and the plan.
We meet them where they are
A scared 4-year-old gets a different approach than a self-conscious 14-year-old. Same expertise, different bedside manner.
We coordinate with pediatricians
If your child sees a regular pediatrician, we will share findings and coordinate care so everyone stays on the same page.

Frequently asked Questions
Any age. We see newborns, infants, toddlers, school-age children, and teens. There is no minimum age.
Not in most cases. Some insurance plans require a referral for specialist visits. Call your insurance provider or our office to confirm before scheduling.
For young children, bring a comfort item (favorite stuffed animal or blanket) and let them know we will look at their skin and may take a picture. For older kids and teens, encourage them to ask questions. The more involved they are, the better the outcome.
Yes. We choose treatments specifically appropriate for each age group. Many medications are safe for children but used at different doses or in different formulations. Your dermatologist will explain every option.
